PRESSURE EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE
PRESSURE EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE 97/23/EC
The UK has implemented the above Directive through the Pressure Equipment Regulations 1999 which entered force on 29 November 1999. Since that date there has been a transitional 30 months period during which National Legislation has been valid. With effect from 30 May 2002 these new Regulations supersede National Legislation. Common practice exists throughout the 18 member States of the European Economic Area.

The Regulations specify certain pressure/volume thresholds, above which CE marking is mandatory. Products falling below these thresholds must not be CE marked, but shall be designed and manufactured in accordance with Sound Engineering Practice (SEP).

The standard products supplied and manufactured by S. Brannan & Sons Ltd fall below these threshold values.

To ensure that these products comply with SEP it is the company policy that they be designed and manufactured in line with the safety requirements of the relevant European Standard. In the absence of such a standard the nearest relevant National Standard is employed to satisfy the Regulations.
